How Long (Psalm 13)

Written somewhere in the midst of the long battle it took for me to get free! When Satan has had a stronghold in your life and had you believing a stack of lies about your lack of value and worth, it can take a long hard war to start believing the truth of what God says about you in His Word. What encouragement in the midst of that battle to read David’s lament in Psalm 13. This is no nice little prayer to God for help, it’s a desperate, passionate plea from a man who believes that unless God comes through he’ll die. It oozes with honesty and brokeness and challenges me to be completely real with God and to not hold back anything in my communication with Him. But more than that it helps me realise time and time again, that the spiritual giants and heroes of the faith have had their time in the pit of pain and suffering too! Yet in his last words, in spite of his circumstance and pain, he still manages to declare God’s goodness, he still finds a song within him to sing that declares his trust in God. God proved faithful in David’s battle, He proved faithful in my battle, let Him prove faithful in yours too.
