OLD AGE’S RAMBLINGS #1
C.S Lewis wrote, ‘If I find in myself desires which nothing in the world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world’.
Since launching this ministry back in October 04 I’ve had the amazing privilege of getting to know a number of people who are struggling with same-sex attraction and other sexuality related issues. They are some of the most precious and beautiful people I know, who inspire me and move me to be all of the man that God has destined me to be - they’re my hereos because of the way they attempt to overcome the adversity and pain that has been their experience in life thus far!
Sometimes their struggle is so deep that they feel like they’re in free fall and there’s nothing they can do to ease the inevitable thud of the ensuing landing. Sometimes in the midst of the struggle, it seems that God is silent, missing or just not interested. Sometimes there is little to say or do to be a means of God to bring hope and light into their journey.
Why is the journey (for all of us - not just those struggling with same-sex attraction) so often full of pain, disappointment and struggle? Why is it that God so often seems to ignore our cries for help and relief? I’m not sure I have the answers but I reckon there’s something in that C.S Lewis quote at the start of this ramble. You and I were created for something far more amazing and astounding than this earthly life - today is just the prelude to the main event, the real thing. It is going to be glorious! We will walk in complete freedom for the first time! The broken will be made new!
1 Peter 1:6-7 ‘In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith, of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire, may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed’.

C.S. Lewis has been a revered figure for me since his book “Mere Christianity” got me weighing up the issues of life and our journey thru it many years ago.
